Abbey Grange Sixth Form students have again achieved fantastic A-Level and BTEC Results, securing places at a range of universities, including Russell Group institutions and Oxbridge, with further students accepting places on a range of apprenticeship programmes.
Year 13 students have been considerably affected by the Covid pandemic, having not sat GCSE exams, meaning their only previous external testing was their Year 6 SATS back in 2016.
Despite this, they performed admirably, with nearly half all grades awarded A* - B. Several students have performed exceptionally well, achieving straight A/A* grades, and all of our students holding offers to study Medicine, and those holding Oxbridge offers have successfully gained their places. A number of students have made fantastic progress since their GCSEs performing above Abbey Grange’s very aspirational targets.
A fifth of our students achieved3 A-Levels with all subjects graded A* - B, and the average grade achieved was a C. These results are in line with 2019 results and echo the national return in England to pre-covid gradings proving that this cohort performed just as well even with the massive amount of disruption they experienced to their education.
Director of Sixth Form, Steph Hanbridge said: “These students have worked phenomenally hard over the last two years and achieved a huge variety of successes and gained entry to some amazing destinations. We wish them well and congratulations on their results.”
Principal, Simon Prinsep, said: “What this year group have achieved is fantastic. With so much disruption to their education over the last few years and a national drop in grades – especially at the top end- this cohort have delivered a great set of results. We are very proud of them and the staff who went above and beyond to deliver these results.”
Abbey Grange Sixth Form will beholding an enrolment day on Thursday 24th August for students wishing to start their post-16 studies with us in September 2023. For 2024entry, we will be holding an Open Evening on Thursday 9th September.
