Abbey Grange Sixth Form: Step UP Programme to Oxford
Each year, Abbey Grange Sixth Form is proud to take part in the prestigious Step UP Programme to Oxford, an exceptional opportunity designed to inspire and prepare our most academically able students for success at the very highest level.
This year, 45 of our exceptional Year 11 students were selected to spend two days in Oxford, immersing themselves in the life of a university student. During the visit, students experienced academic taster sessions, toured historic colleges, attended lectures, and engaged directly with undergraduate mentors. The programme gives students a genuine insight into the academic rigour, independent learning, and lifestyle associated with studying at Oxford and other Russell Group universities.

We are incredibly proud to be one of only two schools across the entire Leeds area invited to participate in this competitive programme. This opportunity reflects the strength of academic ambition, teaching quality, and enrichment provision at Abbey Grange Sixth Form. Participation in Step UP plays a key role in strengthening students’ confidence, aspirations, and understanding of what is required to succeed at top universities.
The impact of this programme is clear. This year alone, 19 Abbey Grange students applied to Oxbridge, with an outstanding 17 students securing interviews – a remarkable achievement that highlights the effectiveness of our tailored support and preparation for competitive university applications.
If you are an ambitious student looking to challenge yourself academically and aim for the very best universities, Abbey Grange Sixth Form offers exceptional opportunities to help you succeed.
External applications close on 29th January – don’t miss the chance to be part of a Sixth Form that opens doors to Oxford, Cambridge, and beyond.
